Salvadorean Liga MB round 12 best performance: Neysser Coutin- October 10, 2023Cuban Swingman Neysser Coutin (192-G/F-1996, agency: Pro Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked San Salvador, receiving a Hoops Agents Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 32 points and 24 rebounds, while his team beat Chalchuapa (#9, 0-10), the league's bottom-ranked team 101-86. San Salvador is placed at 2nd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. San Salvador will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Coutin had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be San Salvador's top player in his first season with the team. Neysser Coutin has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 14.6rpg) and averages impressive 1.4bpg and 51.8% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was young American Andravious Smith (198-G/F-1995) of Fantasmas. Smith had a very good evening with a double-double of 39 points and 12 rebounds. Of course Fantasmas cruised to a 97-87 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Santa Ana (#8, 2-9). This victory allowed Fantasmas to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 7-3 record is not bad at all. Smith is a newcomer at Fantasmas, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 31.6ppg (#2). He also registered 10.6 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was Dominican Rep. forward Frankyn Batista (198-F-1999) of Santa Ana (#8). Batista got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for twenty seven rebounds and five assists. Despite Batista's great performance Santa Ana lost 87-97 to the higher-ranked Fantasmas (#3, 7-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Santa Ana can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Batista has individually a great season in El Salvador. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 28.2ppg (5th best), rebounds with 18.1rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 6.1apg (2nd best). He also has 3.1spg and 1.4bpg. Batista attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. Other top performing players last week: 4.
